Big Changes to Digital TV on February 17

Changes to Local TV Reception

On February 17, 2009 the nation will transition to digital TV.  This means that if you do not have cable TV, you will need to get a converter box in order to keep getting a TV signal after that day.

Two assistance centers have opened in Minneapolis to help people with the switch to digital television.  The Lao Assistance Center and the Main Street Project launched the Twin Cities' DTV Assistance Centers on Wednesday.  Either of these centers can help you with the conversion and will be able to give you information and technical support during the transition to digital TV.   You can go to either of the centers:

  • Lao Assistance Center, 503 Irving Avenue North, Suite 100A, Minneapolis 55405; (612) 374-4967
  • Main Street Project, 2104 Stevens Avenue South, Minneapolis,   55405; (612) 879-7578

By clicking here, you can also read about the switch and get the papers you need to purchase a converter box at a discounted rate.
